Found this in my usual reading of forums. Doesn't sound half bad.
3 BRDs with Troubador/Nightingale merits and appropriate HQ instruments.
1 RDM with Dia3
1 THF with Feint
3 WHM or RDM/WHMs (So we have 3 or 4 healers there, plus the BRDs)
10 DDs.
Anyone else is just extra curing for us, and we have 1 DRG in the LS who is almost never on, so we'd use him for Angon if he was there. We rarely have more than 18 there, sometimes we might have 1-2 outside healers but they're not required if your healers in the alliance are on the ball.
Our DD preference, having no relics, Ridills, KClubs or BZaghnals is:
DRK/DRG with MKris and appropriate Souleater setup.
DRK/SAM with strong merits, Subduer, appropriate Souleater setup.
MNK/WAR with H2H merits.
WAR/SAM with GA merits, Rune Chopper preferred, Perdu or Fort Axe is fine.
I'm going off the assumption that your DDs are going to have good gear and appropriate merits. Really really great gear isn't required, but you can't have DRKs with no Haste or HP gear, WARs with Joyeuses, and MNKs using full Haste setups during Hundred Fists.
Any other DDs are filled in if we're lacking the above, but we usually have 2-3 DRKs, 3-4 MNKs, the rest WAR/SAMs, occasionally a SAM but most of our SAMs have DRK or MNK also.
We don't use MNK/DRK mainly because it's a lot of healing for 3-4 mages to pull off, and we'd rather kill him with 18 then have more healers there.
Our melee eat Attack Food, with SV Madrigal/HQ Madrigal instrument/Weapon merits ACC isn't a problem. DRKs eat Carbonara for HP and Attack.
We have the WHMs or RDMs as leaders, with each BRD macroed into a /pcmd add bardsname. We practice the rotation once, to make sure the order is correct for each BRD being in each PT and every PT getting 6 songs up.
When we go, the BRDs Soulvoice Troubador etc and begin singing. The RDMs and WHMs Haste their PT, and when we're at 5/6 songs, everyone uses a Poison Potion and we pop him.
Everyone engages, then uses JAs and 2hours, to not waste any time with the ability up but not being used due to possibly lagging while engaging. THF Feints, RDM Dia3s, DRG would Angon if they were there. The WARs tend to have TP from Meditate, and they open with Voke and Steel Cyclone. This keeps Kirin off the DRKs for a little bit to give the healers some breathing room. We tend to put 2 healers in the DRKs PT to help keep them topped off since they need full HP to maximize Souleater. I've used Full Break at the start before on WAR, and it's not a bad idea.
Nobody WSs mid-fight, unless it's at the end of the zerg and Kirin is almost dead, we get better results wailing away than having the lag from WSing and not attacking. (Except SAMs obviously)
Have Curagas ready to handle Astral Flow. If anyone dies, if you have extra DDs get them in. If not, don't waste MP raising them, a weakened DD isn't going to help any. (Unless for some reason it's a SAM with their 2hour still active.)
Our times range from 58 seconds to 2 minutes 12 seconds.
